Mercedes-Benz Korea unveiled five new pure electric vehicles and innovative technologies under the theme of 'Leading electrification' at the 2021 Seoul Mobility Show, and unveiled a clear blueprint for sustainable future mobility.
The long-awaited luxury electric sedan EQS made an official landing in the domestic market through this exhibition. EQS is the first model to apply a modular architecture developed exclusively for electric vehicles by Mercedes-Benz, and is equipped with innovative digital technology and the highest level of safety and convenience specifications. In the domestic market, the EQS 450+ AMG line model will be released first.
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the EQS, a luxury electric sedan, and EQB, a family electric compact SUV, for the first time in Korea at the Seoul Mobility Show. With the official launch of EQS in Korea, Mercedes-Benz plans to continue its unrivaled brand status in the luxury sedan field.
The luxury electric sedan EQS, first introduced by Mercedes-EQ, the electric vehicle brand of Mercedes-Benz, is a model that sets new standards for the segment. It was designed based on the modular architecture exclusively for electric vehicles developed by Mercedes-Benz, and many innovative technologies for the electric mobility era were applied, such as the MBUX hyperscreen, a next-generation artificial intelligence infotainment system, applied for the first time.
The appearance of the EQS differentiates itself from the internal combustion engine with a single bow-like one-bow line and a cap-forward fastback style that advances the A-pillar and places the C-pillar behind. A resistance coefficient of 0.20 Cd was recorded.
MBUX HyperScreen, an integrated wide-screen instrument panel panel, is equipped with an artificial intelligence system to provide a personalized environment for each user, and a zero-layer function places key functions in an easily accessible location depending on the situation.
In the domestic market, the EQS 450+ AMG line model, which exhibits a maximum output of 245 kW and a maximum torque of 568 Nm, will be released first. The EQS 450+ AMG line is equipped with a 107.8 kWh battery and can travel up to 478 km (based on the Ministry of Environment) on a single charge.
The innovative battery management software supports over-the-air updates (OTA) to ensure that EQS's energy management system is always up to date. In addition, it is equipped with a number of advanced safety and convenience features such as the Driving Assistance Package, rear axle steering, and Energizing Air Control Plus.
The EQB is the second compact SUV model introduced by Mercedes-EQ after the EQA. It is a practical family electric compact SUV that provides a large interior space that can be expanded to 7 passengers by adding a third row seat and strong driving performance on and off-road.
The EQB's unrivaled interior offers ample space beyond the compact segment, based on a wheelbase of 2,829 mm. The headroom of the first row is 1,035 mm, and the second row has 979 mm of headroom and 87 mm of knee space for five people.
In the case of a 7-seater configuration, two seats can be added in the third row. The second row seats, which can be split in a 4:2:4 ratio, provide a load space of up to 1,710 liters. EQB consists of two lineups, the EQB 300 4MATIC with 168 kW output and the EQB 350 4MATIC with 215 kW output, based on global market standards. It is equipped with a 66.5 kWh battery and can travel 419 km according to European WLTP on a single charge.
